Conclusion ( Was it favourable Circumstances or Hitler's Leadership Abilities that led to his Rise in Prominence in the late 1920s?

It is due to the Favourable circumstances that led to Hitler's rise in the late 1920s.

For the favourable circumstances in politic, it involves the weakness of the Weimar government. The systems that led to the downfall of the Weimar government includes the proportional representation, instability of coalition government and Article 48 of Wiemar government. In the proportional representation, during the voting, people votes for a party instead of specific candidates which makes it difficult as there is too many small parties. All the parties came together to form a coalition government, however, each party have different ideas but were not willing to compromise. This led to many changes in the government which is difficult to pass laws as were seen as weak from the Germans, In the article 48,the President gain complete control in the 'time of emergency' which is unfair to the German parliaments as they could not do anything. The Weimar government also had weak support due to the opposition from the left and right wing. The left wing wanted more equality in society but democracy and the right wing wanted Germany not to be known as the main cause of World war and wanted a more dictatorial style of government but  the Weimar government could not meet the people's needs and wants. Thus leading to its weakness.

On the other hand, the leadership abilities of Hitler are his charisma and oratorical skills, skillfulness in making deals and reorganization of the Nazi Party. He was able to connect with people of Germany by addressing their concerns of the current situation in Germany. He practices his speeches and could raise the energy of the audience, being full of energy as he makes 3-4 speeches a day. He is very well loved by the people for his sincerity. With proper planning, Hitler manage to rise to the Chancellor position, over taking the government while still gaining support, Through reorganizing the  Nazi Party,he increase the membership, gaining more support in the politics.

However,if not for the favourable circumstances as the base,Hitler would not have rise to power. He made the connection through the people's concern which was on the current situation which the Weimar government was too weak to control. Sp if the Weimar government had changed the systems to make it better for the people, the Germans would have still supported them and does not have to look for another way to solve their worries such as Hitler.

Therefore, the favourable circumstances was what led to the rise of Hitler in the late 1920s.

Exploitation of the Fears of Communism + Reorganization of the Nazi Party

He used propaganda to spread fear about the aims of the Communists. He said that the communists were only interested in disorder and starting a revolution in Germany. The communists would take away the rich people such as the landowners’ and leading industrialists’ property away and give them to the workers. Hitler also stressed that the Nazi Party was the only political party that could provide order and prevent the communists from setting up a communist dictatorship like the one in Russia. As a result, many rich people gave financial support to the Nazis as they wanted an anti-communist government.

.People in Germany heard that the government in Soviet Union had taken away farmers’ lands and personal properties, and big businesses had been taken over by the state. Additionally, people in Soviet Union were living under the fears of Communism for the Secret Police, the forced camps and the elimination of anti-communist elements. Thus, the farmers and businessmen of Germany feared that they would suffer from the rule of the Communists. Some industrialists also feared of communists, and then financially support the Nazi Party in order to prevent their personal properties and industries from being taken away by the state in future.

Hitler exploited people’s fears of the communism with the aim to rise to power. He vaguely promises people who feared the rule of the communists that he would help them if he gained the right to make decisions. Hence, people who feared the communism in Germany supported Hitler and contributed to his rise to power.

When Hitler was released from jail he knew he needed to seize power soon.  But he also realized that his party's structure suffered as a result of his incarceration.  Hitler began a rapid and strong reorganization of the Nazi Party.

The Nazis grew out of a small right-wing party, which Hitler took over after 1919. He developed a Twenty-Five Point Programme based on hatred, and built up a paramilitary group (the SA) to defend his meetings and attack other parties.

The Nazis appealed to a wide range of people, but especially the 'middling' sort of people, and the party grew rapidly in the years of crisis 1919-1923.

After the disaster of the Munich Putsch, and during the prosperity of the Stresemann years, however, support for the Nazis fell. During this time Hitler believed that he could be elected to power. He used these years to develop and strengthen the party's organisation.

The party was divided into 2 political organizations by Hitler. One of them was dedicated to study and understand the democracy with the aim of overthrowing the German democratic republic through valid processes. Another one was allocated to create a highly organized government in waiting within the republic, which would replace it when time was right. The well reorganization of the Nazi Party by Hitler contributed to his rise to power very much. In addition to increasing the Party membership and establishing the Stormtroops and the Schutz-Staffel, Hitler also made good use of Nazi propaganda. Through all these processes, within in ten years Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany.

Charisma and Oratorical Skills + Skillfulness at Making Deals with Politicians

From this Article, it talks about the 7 Aspects of Hitler’s Charisma.
O "The man gave off such a charisma that people believed whatever he said," says Emil Klein, who heard Hitler speak in the 1920s.
O "I immediately disliked him because of his scratchy voice," says Herbert Richter, a German veteran of WWI who encountered Hitler in Munich in the early 1920s.
O "He shouted out really, really simple political ideas. I thought he wasn't quite normal."
I can infer that Hitler was able to convince majority of the Germans to see his Ideology through his Charisma, and the most important part is his Connection to the Germans. This can be seen from this
Source, where Haydn stated that “The other thing you have to bear is that Politicians who truly are sincere are very rare. Listen to one of Hitler’s speeches, and ignore what the message is but just listen to the sincerity in his voice”. This shows that it is due to the Connections to be able to feel what the people are feeling, such as the embarrassment or the rage the Germans felt from the treaty of Versailles. He uses this similarity that he has with the people to Change Germany and make Germany, their home land and his, Greater and stronger. This was able to connect Hitler and the Germans in his speeches as a human.
One of his speeches. (About 10mins)

You can also read this dialogue session about Hitler.

At first, people did not believe in him that he could make it to a certain part of role but he manages to prove it wrong by getting the role of a Chancellor.

Thus, people started believing in Hitler and his speeches.
Amount of Speeches, his strong spirit allows him to share and make many speeches to talk to the people of Germany. People look up to him as a Leader who is hardworking too.

Hitler practicing poses on his previous speeches.

On the part of Hitler making Deals with Politicians, it also involves with his Charisma and Oratorical skills. He is very Patient and a Great strategist. To reach his goals,he would do anything. He and the Nazi Party made many speeches, gaining support and votes more than the others in the Reichstag, Back then, the President was Hindenburg who allowed a conservative,Franz von Papen to be Chancellor instead of Hitler. However,Mr Franz von Papen did not gain support within the Government or the people. When there was a great fall in seats for the Nazi Party in the Reichstag Election in 1932, Hitler knew he had to propose a deal. By January 1933, President Hindenburg allowed Hitler to be Chancellor, thinking that Hitler would help him to gain support for their polities in the Cabinet but they and the other politicians underestimated Hitler's capabilities which allowed Hitler to rule in a coalition government. Thus, with his careful planning, Hitler took over the government.

Nazi Ideology

What is Nazi?
- A member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party

KEY ELEMENTS
Fascism
Darwinism
Anti-Bolshevism

Fascism
- an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.

The fascists rose to power in Italy under the leadership of Benito Mussolini. Adolf Hitler watched Mussolini’s rise, to power with respect, and he used many of the same strategies himself. Hitler’s rise was assisted by the chaos of the world depression. Hitler became popular in part because he was able to end the depression in Germany. He did this by creating massive public projects, like road systems, and by spending government money on the military industrial production of tanks, airplanes, and other goods. Productivity increased dramatically, unemployment decreased, and the economic crisis seemed solved. This bolstered the public’s opinion of Hitler. He mastered the use of radio, parades, and publicity even more effectively than Mussolini, creating a propaganda machine to raise support for the Nazis.

Darwinism
- Social Darwinism is the belief that all personal and social problems were inherited. The movement was named for Charles Darwin, a naturalist who theorized that organisms develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.

Adolf Hitler’s racial theories were based on social Darwinism. “The stronger has to rule and must not mate with the weaker,” Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf. “Only the born weakling can consider this cruel.”

Anti-Bolshevism
-Also known as anti-communism, organized anti-communism developed in reaction to the rise of communism, especially after the 1917 October Revolution in Russia and reaching global dimensions during the Cold War.

“In the years 1913 and 1914 I expressed my opinion for the first time in various circles, some of which are now members of the National Socialist Movement, that the problem of how the future of the German nation can be secured is the problem of how Marxism can be exterminated.” Said hitler.

Bolshevization of Germany, that is to say, the extermination of the patriotic and national German intellectuals, thus making it possible to force German Labour to bear the yoke of international Jewish finance—that is only the overture to the movement for expanding Jewish power on a wider scale and finally subjugating the world to its rule.

HOW DID NAZI IDEOLOGY LEAD TO THE RISE OF HITLER?
The Nazi Party was founded as the pan-German nationalist and antisemitic german workers party in January 1919. By the early 1920s, Adolf Hitler had become its leader and assumed control of the organisation, now renamed the National Socialist German Workers’ Party in a bid to broaden its appeal.
Adolf Hitler came into a broken and massively in debt county promising "change". He promised to take the lower class Germans to new heights and bring riches to the war torn country.
He didnt like the idea of socialism but because the german supports it, he named it the national socialist german workers party.
he then gained support and rose in Germany.

Great Depression

What happened?

On October 29 1929, there was a severe economic downturn

due to The Stock Market Crash, where the stock prices increased rapidly and when people tried to sell their stock no one bought it and even banks started to close down as they also invested in the Stock Market. To improve this situation, the USA started to ask back all the money she gave on loan to other countries. For an example, Germany.

How it allowed HITLER to rise to power?

The Great Depression began and the Germans were cast into poverty and deep misery and began looking for a solution, any solution. This was because Germany had to pay back all the money which she took on loan from USA, which was to pay for the war reparations according to the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler saw this as a golden opportunity to get the people support. Therefore, he used his speech skills to attract people as the German people were tired of the political haggling in Berlin and they were tired of misery, suffering and weakness which allowed them to listen to anyone. These allowed Hitler to gain people's support. Once he gained the people's support there was an election and Adolf Hitler had won in the election. Therefore, the Great Depression helped Hitler to rise to power.
